Stony Brook University - A Gunman Inside Stony Brook

Stony Brook University - A Gunman Inside Stony Brook

On Feb. 25 there was a notification of a gunman inside Stony Brook University. Apparently the campus police have done an exhaustive search of the possible gunman and have found no one. There weren’t reports on shots being fired neither.

The police issued an “all-clear” today at 4pm and that let everybody resume their activities inside the campus. According to the Stony Brook University website, a young man “fled the Student Activity Center Cafeteria and later displayed what was reported as a handgun.”. This was at about 3 pm.

The campus police patrols are continuing though, let’s hope there isn’t a real threat. It’s disturbing to see how more and more often incidents like this keep repeating on US schools and universities.

Update from Stony Brook University Website:

The investigation of today’s incident is ongoing. We want to thank all those involved in our security effort this afternoon. We will use the web and, whenever necessary, the SB Alert system, to continue to keep the Stony Brook Community informed in as quick and responsible a fashion as possible.
